Jersey City will receive $1.67 million from the Environmental Protection Agency to clean up abandoned sites around the city in order to boost redevelopment, Sen. Robert Menendez announced today.

When Kurt Dillon got the news two years ago that he would be laid off after six years with the Gloucester City Fire Department, he was devastated. Sitting inside the fire hall Wednesday Dillon was in good spirits because he can now call the station home again. This is all thanks to a $600,000 federal grant that will provide funding not only for Dillon’s position but two others for the department. The grant will be spread over two years.

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) kicked off his re-election campaign against state Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R-13) for a new term in the U.S. Senate at Union City High School (UCHS) the morning of May 21, surrounded by thousands of high school students waving campaign signs. “I went to high school in Union City, but it sure didn’t look like this,” Menendez announced.
