That’s why he supported increasing the limits and eliminating the fees on SBA guaranteed loans. He voted for the Small Business Jobs Act which provided small businesses billions in capital, and he created his own new program to lower the cost of capital by providing federal bond guarantees to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), which invest in small businesses and community development.

Increasing Financial Security for Families
Senator Menendez led the fight to crack down on credit card companies and their abusive practices, because families should be able to get a credit card without fear of being scammed. He eliminated hidden fees, reigned-in excessive rate hikes, and stopped the credit card companies from using misleading rules.
Bob helped provide assistance to Americans who want to work but can’t find jobs by voting to extend unemployment benefits and creating tax incentives to encourage businesses to hire the unemployed.
Menendez has championed middle class tax relief and fought to shield middle class families from the A.M.T. tax, while expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, saving the average New Jersey family thousands of dollars.

Bob has fought to keep our communities safe and to support law enforcement personnel on the front lines of fighting crime and potential terror attacks. He led the fight in the Senate to increase federal funding for hiring local police officers, resulting in $166 million nationwide for fiscal year 2012. In 2012, the COPS Hiring Program provided $9.4 million to New Jersey to help hire another 60 police officers. In 2011, New Jersey was able to hire 78 police officers in local communities as a result of receiving over $20 million in COPS funding. Since 2009, New Jersey has received $65.4 million in COPS Hiring funding to hire a total of 298 officers. Bob has also been a staunch supporter of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants, which have delivered more than $75 million to New Jersey's firefighters for the purchase of much-needed equipment. He has also fought to protect SAFER grants, which have provided more than $98 million to local communities for hiring and retaining firefighters.
Senator Menendez co-sponsored legislation and cut through the partisan gridlock to ensure that the 9/11 first responders who were injured or have gotten sick get the health care they deserve.
Putting People Ahead of the Old Partisan Politics
To fight back against the extremists' “War on Women,” Senator Menendez fought to ensure women have access to affordable contraception, fighting to ensure employers or insurance companies offer coverage so women can get the health care they need.
Bob voted to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the military because it’s just plain wrong to discharge capable and patriotic soldiers who want to serve our country just for being gay.
